I found Photo Story/Teacher Tube for many ideas to try.  I felt this would be a great idea for Sandwich Day and let my students write about making a sandwich and making photo story.

I fell in love with the jigsaw puzzles and spend some time with them.  I am not sure what I will do with them in my

class but I just might introduce my students to them because I don’t think they put together puzzles like my family used to.

I just finished listening to the keynote speaker (David Warlick) and I thought he did a good kick-off for the conference.  I feel as teachers we have to explore our lesson plans and curriculum to include more technology innovations.  Our students are very tech savy and probably know more that their teachers.  Information has changed and the way we teach may have to change also. Our students are in  contact with the world today more that we were growing up.  We need more staff development to help prepare teachers better in technology and how to adapt it to the curriculum in our schools to meet the individual needs of our students.

I wish I was there right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found lots of pictures on Flickr but I would worry about my students finding pictures they do not not to see.  I could choose pictures for them and let my students write a story about the pictures.

I have not noticed the CC logo on websites but I am sure I will look for this logo. I think students need to be aware of copyright laws and how to cite them on assignments.  I have used digital images on my webquest and I put cited these at the end of the webquest. I put a homework sheet on our school’s webpage weekly for the parents and students.  I get so many wonderful ideas from other teachers through the web and networking.  It is so easy to find lesson plans on the web anymore. Anyone could claim ideas as their own because of the web but how do you stop it?

It is a Wiki, Wiki World out there.  I enjoyed looking at the wikis especially Dr. Seuss was a great sight and Go West was a good sight for students to share about the Oregon Trail.  I teach third grade and I was especially interested in Go West and I did find some ideas that I could use in my classroom.  The wiki reminds me of Webquest which I took a few years ago and based the web quest on Charlotte’s Web.  My students enjoyed this site after I read the book to them.  I wish there was more time in my day to work on technology.  I am wondering how it can be used for early childhood students and the time taken to keep up with the wiki.  I hope I can try using a discussion question and let my students answer on the wiki.  I read a chapter book to them  daily and I think they would be happy to answer a question about the story.

When I was blogging I found a display of bulletin boards and found a math concept I just taught today.  It was a project for the students to take their handprint and slide/flip/turn their handprints to show these three ways of movement and to show an arrow as to how they moved their handprint.  I used die-cut shapes I already had on hand and my students enjoyed this activity.

I am finding it is takes a lot of time to read blogs and I needed this extra week to work on blogs  between interim reports and grading papers.

I read the article:          http://www.techlearning.com/showArticle.php?articleID=196604996&page=1ticle

I worry about our students networking and the dangers of the Internet.  We as educators need to educate parents and students on Internet Safety.  This should be a class that students take and programs/videos should be in place for the students to be aware of what could happen.

Parents also need to be involved in a course to let them know what measures they can use on their own computers for the safety of their children. Hopefully more schools will provide this  Internet Safety Program for students and parents.

I have been reading blogs and I really enjoyed the Duck Blog.  I teach creative writing and what a great way for students to publish their work.

http://duckdiaries.edublogs.org/2006/04/20/2nd-graders-write-about-our-missing-duck/  I know my students would love to do this because they are very tech savy and use the computer everyday.  They are learning Microsoft Word and the writing process. This would be a creative way for my students to practice their typing and using their creativity.

I enjoyed a blog with students reviewing books and giving a short report of the book.  What a great way to have students do a book report.

I am already adding to my toolbox.  I think blogs are a good way for people to express themselves especially children.

The most challenging habit for me will be willingness to play and take the time to explore this new technology.  Wow!  there is so much available now in cyperspace.  This is teaching an old dog new tricks!!!

The easiest habit for me will be create my own toolbox and share with other teachers.  I enjoy working and sharing ideas with my co-workers.

The most important habit for me will be having confidence in myself as a learner to understand all the information I will be learning in this course.
